Its a 3rd person action/comedy kind of games. you go around beating the . . . out of bricks and collect knobs and yeah, fun to play but time consuming

Alternatively, how might I just record me playing the game itself with sound without my face there?

screen casting software or a capture card.

Fraps is a really good one, but hypercam 2 is free.

Depending on what game your playing there are usually better options.

I admit I do like to play videogames. I grew up in the late 80s and 90s where videogame popularity grew and I find it hard to quit. But I mostly play sport games, or games like Grand Theft Auto IV and Call of Duty. But my question is, when do you think is the right time to stop playing videogames? Or with this generation, will there be a right time?

Question by ra912: How would you design an intervention to counteract the negative psychological effects of playing a GTA game?
I’ve met a few parents over the years who have been concerned about their kids playing Grand Theft Auto (and other violent games). Though I am a proud gamer myself, I felt obligated to fill them in on the possible effects of playing GTA or other similar games (based only on my readings in Social Psychology, not on any research on videogames per se). These include positive conditioning towards and desensitization to violent behavior, use of deadly weapons, prostitution, etc. There are others, but I can’t call them to mind presently.

Of course, I know that playing videogames, like most media, can serve as a double-edged sword. I got to thinking that maybe there was a way for kids (and even adults) to enjoy videogames without the negative effects.

So, how would you go about inoculating gamers from these effects? Furthermore, how would you undo these effects in those that have already played their share of GTA? I would have made this my thesis if not for various constraints.

Any ideas?

The answer is very simple.

If a child is brought up being taught to love and respect his fellow humans, no amount of video games is going to undo that upbringing.

If a child is old enough to play a video game like that, they are old enough to know right and wrong – and of course the line between video game fantasy and reality.
